About the job
About Aerobotics
Our mission is to provide intelligent tools to feed the world. We do this by delivering actionable tree and fruit insights to growers across 18 countries, powered by imagery and advanced computer vision. To date, we've analysed over 400 million trees from the sky, and more than 300 million fruit up close, helping farmers make critical operational and agricultural decisions that maximise yield and efficiency. Our global team of 60+ professionals is headquartered in Cape Town, with commercial teams in the USA, Australia, Europe, and South America.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Freelance Designer to work with our Marketing team and help shape how Aerobotics shows up around the world.
Aerobotics uses drones and phones to measure trees and fruit. Together, our job is to take the complex technology we use in the orchard and the packhouse and make it simple to understand and good to look at. Every visual should also show growers and packhouses the value it adds.
We're a global company with digital and physical marketing channels, so our visuals need to work everywhere: our website, our social channels, and the booths we build at major international trade shows. Take a look at some of our work:
- Website: https://aerobotics.com/
- LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/aerobotics
How We’ll Work Together
You'll work with the whole marketing team, turning briefs into strong, on-brand designs. This role is about high-velocity design and quick turnarounds. We'll invest time upfront teaching you about our customers, our products, and what we do, so our briefs can get more specific over time. We want to reduce feedback loops where possible:
- Web graphics and static images go through a short, quick feedback loop that builds on your understanding of our products.
- Print and event work usually goes through one or two rounds of feedback before it's finalised for print deadlines.
All source files and brand assets belong to Aerobotics and should be handed over when each project is complete.
What You'll Do
We’ll work on a phased approach, but ultimately we are looking for someone who can:
- Bring our technology to life: Create hero images and visuals for marketing materials and collateral that make our drone and phone-based technology look clear and appealing.
- Design for trade shows: Create booth designs and large-format print artwork for our global trade shows, prepared to organiser and supplier specifications.
- Design website graphics: Produce SVGs, illustrations and images for our website.
- Create social media content: Design static images for our social media channels, adapting work across formats.
As we work together, we’d like to improve our design system in Claude by adding new templates, components, and guidelines, so the team can produce consistent, on-brand lower-visibility work quickly and we can allocate more design time to high-impact, high-visibility work.
Who you are
- You care about the details. Consistency matters to you, and a misaligned logo on a 3-metre banner bothers you.
- You're reliable. You hit print deadlines and tell us early when something's at risk.
- You're curious about the work behind the brief. You want to learn how growers use our products and what happens on the farm or in a packhouse, so your visuals show the real thing.
- You like range. A website hero image on Monday and trade show booth artwork on Thursday sounds good to you.
- You're creative. You bring ideas to a brief, not just execution.
What You'll Need
- Design experience working with a B2B, SaaS, or technology company
- Design experience with both large-scale print items for conferences/exhibitions and working on websites and digital assets
- Clear communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to learn
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, Gemini or ChatGPT
- Your own access to required design software
Application Process
- Submit a link to your portfolio, a clear motivation for the role, and at least two references
- Virtual interview with the Head of Marketing
- Design submission assessment
- In-person interview with the Marketing and Product team
