About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Business Development-Drayage based in United States.

This is an opportunity to drive commercial growth within the North American freight and logistics industry, with a particular focus on the Los Angeles market. You will lead business development efforts across drayage, transloading, and trucking services, building strategic relationships with freight forwarders, beneficial cargo owners (BCOs), and shippers. Your primary focus will be identifying new revenue opportunities, expanding existing partnerships, and increasing market share across key port and intermodal gateways. Leveraging your industry network and knowledge of Asia-based trade lanes, you will help maximize the value of established logistics infrastructure and transportation assets. You will collaborate closely with operations and service delivery teams to ensure customer expectations are consistently met. This full-time opportunity suits a commercially driven logistics professional who combines strong market relationships, independent execution, and a proven record of exceeding sales targets.

Accountabilities

•

Strategic market expansion: Leverage established industry connections, especially within Asia-based trade lanes, to generate new business, expand market share, and strengthen the organization's competitive position.

•

Sales strategy and target achievement: Develop and execute sales initiatives aligned with business objectives, consistently working toward and exceeding established revenue and performance targets.

•

Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with operations, transloading, and drayage teams to align customer requirements with service capabilities, maintain service commitments, and deliver a positive customer experience.

•

Industry representation and networking: Represent the organization at relevant industry events, trade shows, and networking forums to build brand awareness, strengthen relationships, and identify new commercial opportunities.

•

Pipeline management and reporting: Maintain visibility into sales pipeline activity, customer development, market trends, and competitive intelligence, providing regular updates and recommendations to leadership.

•

Market development: Identify opportunities to improve asset utilization, expand customer penetration, and support growth across key port, intermodal, drayage, and transloading operations.

•

Travel and relationship development: Travel as required to meet customers, attend industry events, and develop strategic relationships across relevant markets.

Requirements

•

At least 5 years of experience in drayage, transloading, freight forwarding, or a closely related logistics industry, with a comprehensive understanding of supply chain operations and complexities.

•

Bachelor's degree in Science (B.S.) required.

Established professional network within the Los Angeles logistics market, particularly among freight forwarders and related transportation partners.

•

Strong knowledge of Asia-based trade lanes and established relationships within this market is highly preferred.

•

Demonstrated success in business development, customer acquisition, account growth, and achieving or exceeding sales targets.

•

Strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify opportunities, negotiate effectively, and convert prospects into long-term customers.

•

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

•

Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable managing a sales pipeline independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

•

Ability and willingness to travel as required for customer meetings, industry events, and business development activities.

•

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored visa or immigration support. Employment eligibility will be verified through E-Verify, and a background check is required.
