About the job
Work is expected to begin right away, and last for 1-2 months or so, depending on the client's business needs, with the potential for additional work beyond this initial project. Freelancers may work at any schedule of their choosing, for as long as tasks are available. Recording sessions should include appropriate breaks to protect the voice and maintain performance quality. Work availability is based on the client's business needs and is not guaranteed.
Expectations
- Deliver finished audio at a steady, continued pace
- Meet agreed upon weekly production targets
- Communicate availability or scheduling changes in advance
- Maintain momentum throughout longer projects rather than allowing work to accumulate near deadlines
- Complete re-records and corrections promptly when requested
Fluency in Basque is required for this project. Freelancers with multilingual fluency may be offered work on other projects in additional languages, depending on their qualifications.
Equipment Requirements
Freelancers should have a dedicated professional recording setup - or equivalent - suitable for sustained voice production, capable of capturing high-quality audio. Equipment should be properly configured for gain staging, sample rate, bit depth, and the project’s technical specifications. See specs below:
- Microphone: RØDE NT1 / NT1 5th Gen, Lewitt LCT 440 PURE, Audio-Technica AT4040, or equivalent/better. Professional XLR condenser preferred. The NT1 is a strong benchmark due to its very low self-noise.
- Audio Interface: Focusrite Scarlett Solo/2i2 4th Gen, Audient iD4 MKII, SSL 2, MOTU M2, or equivalent/better. Must provide clean preamps, 48V phantom power, and reliable 24-bit/48 kHz recording.
- XLR Cable: Canare, Mogami, Pro Co, Hosa Pro, RØDE, or equivalent professional balanced XLR cable. Neutrik connectors preferred. Avoid generic/unbranded low-quality cables.
- Computer: Modern Mac or Windows computer with 8 GB RAM minimum, SSD storage, USB connectivity, and sufficient free storage. 16 GB RAM + SSD preferred. Must be stable during extended recording, editing, and upload sessions.
- DAW / Software: REAPER, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Adobe Audition, Audacity, Studio One, Cubase, or equivalent. Must reliably record/export mono 24-bit/48 kHz WAV files.
- Headphones: Sony MDR-7506, Audio-Technica ATH-M40x/M50x, Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro, Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, or equivalent. Must be wired, closed-back monitoring headphones. Bluetooth headphones/earbuds are not recommended.
- Internet: Stable broadband connection with ≥25 Mbps download and upload minimum. Wired Ethernet preferred where available.
- Pop Filter: Stedman Proscreen, RØDE WS2/SM6, dual-layer nylon/metal pop filter, or equivalent. Must effectively control plosives without negatively affecting recording quality or requiring excessive off-axis positioning.
PLEASE NOTE: Any/all work for this client will be offered and completed within their platform. Freelancers will not receive contract offers or payments through the Upwork platform.
An enterprise client is seeking Basque-speaking freelancers to consistently deliver high-quality recordings in a remote production environment. This work requires more than a strong voice. The ideal VT (Voice Talent) can sound natural and conversational across a wide range of realistic scenarios, adapting emotion, delivery and energy to fit each one. They are also dependable, technically capable, detail-oriented, communicative, and able to maintain a consistent recording environment across a large volume of audio.
