About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer, AI Tools (MXC) based in Mexico.

Join a fast-growing technology organization dedicated to helping businesses protect their people, operations, and assets through innovative risk intelligence and response solutions. In this role, you will help accelerate an AI-first engineering model by designing and building intelligent tools that transform how software is developed. You will create AI agents, reusable workflows, and engineering automations that support everything from implementation and testing to code reviews and continuous integration. Working closely with engineering teams, you will improve developer productivity by simplifying local environments, shortening feedback loops, and eliminating repetitive tasks. This hands-on position offers the opportunity to influence engineering practices across the organization while experimenting with emerging AI technologies. It is ideal for an experienced software engineer who embraces AI-native development, values practical innovation, and enjoys building tools that help other engineers work more effectively.

Accountabilities

•

Build AI-powered engineering tools: Design, develop, and extend AI agents, reusable skills, prompts, and automation workflows that support software development activities, including implementation, test generation, code review, and CI feedback.

•

Advance AI-first development practices: Explore emerging AI capabilities and integrate practical innovations into existing engineering workflows to improve productivity, software quality, and development speed.

•

Develop agentic workflows: Create and enhance systems that enable AI agents to take on increasingly complex engineering tasks, from planning and implementation to validation, review, and continuous integration.

•

Improve developer experience: Identify and eliminate friction in local development environments, testing processes, and CI pipelines by building internal tools and streamlining workflows.

•

Optimize development environments: Improve and modularize local development setups to make them faster, more reliable, and easier for engineers to use.

•

Strengthen testing and feedback loops: Develop automation that improves test generation, execution, and performance while reducing delays between code changes and actionable feedback.

•

Collaborate across engineering teams: Partner with engineers throughout the organization to understand their needs, incorporate feedback, and develop AI-assisted workflows that solve real problems.

•

Drive adoption through practical value: Encourage the adoption of new tools and engineering practices through collaboration, experimentation, and demonstrated benefits rather than top-down mandates.

•

Evaluate emerging technologies: Stay informed about advances in AI coding assistants, agent orchestration, and developer tooling, identifying opportunities to introduce meaningful improvements.

•

Promote continuous improvement: Challenge inefficient processes, measure the impact of engineering initiatives, and iterate on solutions to deliver sustained improvements in developer productivity.

Requirements

•

Software engineering experience: Approximately 6–8 years of hands-on software engineering and coding experience, with strong fundamentals and a track record of building reliable, maintainable systems.

•

AI-assisted development expertise: Daily practical experience with modern AI coding tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, ChatGPT, Gemini, or comparable solutions, with AI playing an integral role in your development workflow.

•

AI tooling development: Demonstrated experience extending AI tools beyond standard usage, including building custom agents, reusable skills, prompt systems, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, or AI-driven engineering automations.

•

Agent orchestration: Hands-on experience designing, building, or improving agentic workflows that coordinate AI-driven tasks and contribute meaningfully to software engineering processes.

•

Backend engineering proficiency: Strong backend development experience and proficiency in at least one backend-oriented programming language. Python is preferred, while JavaScript and TypeScript are also considered. Candidates should be comfortable contributing across the full stack when needed.

•

Internal developer tools: Experience designing and building systems, platforms, or tools that other engineers rely on in their daily work.

•

Development infrastructure: Practical experience with Docker, local development environments, continuous integration systems, and automated testing, including identifying and resolving test performance bottlenecks.

•

Cloud and database expertise: Professional experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and PostgreSQL is required.

•

Problem-solving and innovation: Ability to identify underlying problems, challenge inefficient workflows, and develop pragmatic solutions that produce measurable improvements.

•

Collaboration and communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, work across teams, incorporate diverse feedback, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

•

Adaptability and curiosity: A proactive approach to learning, experimenting with emerging AI technologies, and continuously improving engineering practices.

•

Work authorization: Must currently reside in Mexico and have the legal right to work in the country without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Benefits

•

Competitive compensation: Competitive base salary paid twice monthly. The specific salary range was not disclosed in the provided job description.

•

Annual company bonus: Eligibility for an annual bonus based on the company's compensation program.

•

Comprehensive healthcare: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.

•

Parental leave: Access to a parental leave program supporting employees and their families.

•

Additional annual compensation: Christmas bonus ( Aguinaldo ), in accordance with the applicable compensation policy.

•

Generous time off: Vacation and holiday allowances, plus an additional vacation bonus.

•

Remote work support: Monthly work-from-home stipend to help cover remote working expenses.

•

Equipment provided: Company-provided laptop, monitor, and other necessary accessories to support a productive working environment.

•

Recognition and rewards: Programs that celebrate individual and team achievements.

•

Language learning opportunities: Access to language immersion programs, including English and Spanish, depending on individual interests and availability.

•

Professional development: Mentorship, technical talks, personalized career development sessions, and ongoing learning opportunities.

•

Remote flexibility: Work remotely from Mexico, with the option to use an office located in the Reforma area of Mexico City. Office attendance is not required.

•

Collaborative culture: Join a team that values customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, continuous improvement, and meaningful work.
