About the job
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Solution Architect based in the United States.
As a Principal Solution Architect, you will define and lead architecture across multiple strategic client programs, guiding complex technology transformations from vision through delivery. You will design scalable, secure, and resilient solutions spanning cloud infrastructure, data platforms, integration, AI, and regulated financial systems. Working closely with senior client executives and cross-functional teams, you will shape modernization strategies and influence critical technical decisions. You will also establish reusable architecture standards, governance frameworks, and engineering patterns that strengthen delivery across programs. A key part of the role will involve bringing advanced AI capabilities, including LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation, into production responsibly. This is an opportunity to provide technical leadership, influence strategic business outcomes, and mentor the next generation of architects.
Accountabilities
In this role, you will provide architecture leadership across strategic engagements, ensuring that technology decisions support client objectives while meeting demanding operational and regulatory requirements. Your main responsibilities will include:
•
Lead architecture direction across multiple strategic client programs, making clear technical decisions and trade-offs within your mandate.
•
Establish reference architectures, reusable integration patterns, and governance standards for consistent implementation across client engagements.
•
Design and modernize scalable solutions across cloud, data, integration, AI, financial crime, regulatory, and core banking environments.
•
Ensure production solutions meet requirements for security, resilience, scalability, performance, observability, and maintainability.
•
Define architecture patterns and production standards for LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector retrieval, model integration, monitoring, and AI governance.
•
Advise client CIOs, CTOs, and other senior stakeholders on modernization strategies, architecture decisions, technical risks, and priorities.
•
Support strategic business development through proposals, RFP responses, discovery sessions, architecture workshops, and technical sales discussions.
•
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams, translating client and implementation insights into platform improvements, roadmap priorities, and technical strategy.
•
Mentor and develop IC3 and IC4 architects while strengthening architecture practices and standards across the wider team.
Requirements
The ideal candidate brings extensive enterprise technology experience, strong architecture leadership, and the ability to connect strategic vision with hands-on technical problem-solving. You should have:
•
12+ years of enterprise technology experience, including architecture leadership across strategic client programs.
•
Strong enterprise architecture expertise spanning cloud platforms, data, integration, AI platforms, and distributed systems.
•
Experience in financial services, particularly banking, financial crime, risk management, regulatory reporting, or other highly regulated environments.
•
A proven ability to lead architecture across multiple programs and establish standards and governance frameworks adopted by delivery teams.
•
Experience designing and modernizing solutions across on-premise, hosted, hybrid, and SaaS environments.
•
Strong cloud and deployment knowledge across AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP, together with containers, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
•
Experience with integration and data platforms, including REST APIs, messaging, event-driven architectures, Kafka, Spark, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or comparable technologies.
•
Practical enterprise AI experience, including the design or leadership of production solutions using LLMs, RAG, vector retrieval, model endpoints, monitoring, or AI governance.
•
Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs and build alignment around architecture decisions.
•
A strong sense of ownership, combining the ability to set strategic direction with the technical depth to resolve complex delivery challenges.
Additional experience that would be advantageous includes
•
Leading enterprise AI architecture programs within financial services.
•
Working with regulatory reporting or core banking systems.
•
Expertise in data governance, master data management, or enterprise analytics platforms.
•
Experience with enterprise middleware and application servers such as JBoss, WebSphere, or WildFly.
•
TOGAF or an equivalent enterprise architecture certification.
•
Establishing architecture standards adopted across a professional services organization or architecture practice.
Benefits
•
Remote work opportunity.
•
Opportunity to lead architecture across strategic enterprise client programs.
•
Exposure to advanced AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG, and vector retrieval.
•
The opportunity to influence enterprise modernization strategies and technology roadmaps.
•
A senior technical leadership position with scope to mentor architects and strengthen architecture practices.
