About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Social Media & Community Specialist – Barebells Canada based in Canada.

We are looking for a creative, culturally connected Social Media & Community Specialist to shape a fast-growing brand’s presence across Canada. In this role, you will lead day-to-day social media execution, content creation, and community engagement, with a primary focus on Instagram and TikTok. You will transform online trends, cultural moments, and consumer conversations into engaging, platform-native content that builds brand awareness and loyalty. Working closely with local marketing colleagues and global creative teams, you will have the autonomy to bring fresh ideas to life and influence how the brand connects with its audience. You will also play a key role in supporting product launches, creator collaborations, and marketing activations. This is an exciting opportunity for a social-first marketer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to make a tangible impact in a growing market.

Accountabilities

  • Lead day-to-day social media strategy and execution, shaping the brand’s presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.
  • Develop, create, and publish engaging social-first content, from initial concepts and storytelling to final production, including appearing on camera when needed.
  • Monitor emerging trends, platform behaviours, and cultural moments to identify opportunities for timely, relevant, and authentic content.
  • Manage community engagement by responding to comments, direct messages, mentions, tags, and user-generated content while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Turn audience interactions, standout comments, and community insights into creative storytelling opportunities that strengthen engagement and brand affinity.
  • Monitor community sentiment, consumer feedback, and emerging conversations to identify opportunities, potential risks, and relevant insights for the marketing team.
  • Identify potential brand ambassadors, creators, and advocates within the community to support ongoing brand growth.
  • Support product launches, events, partnerships, and marketing activations by engaging audiences before, during, and after key moments.
  • Assist with creator collaborations and product seeding initiatives to generate excitement and encourage authentic consumer advocacy.
  • Collaborate with local marketing colleagues and global creative teams to ensure social content aligns with broader brand objectives while remaining relevant to Canadian audiences.

Requirements

  • At least 1–2 years of hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, community management, or a related marketing role.
  • Strong knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, including platform-specific formats, trends, algorithms, and content best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and producing engaging social content, supported by a strong visual eye and an understanding of digital storytelling.
  • Confidence appearing on camera when required and the ability to create relatable, authentic content that resonates with online communities.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver content in a fast-moving environment.
  • A strong understanding of online culture, humour, social trends, and audience behaviour, with the ability to identify opportunities for timely and relevant engagement.
  • Creativity, initiative, and sound judgement, combined with the confidence to experiment with new ideas while maintaining brand consistency.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with local and international teams.
  • Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), food and beverage, lifestyle, or wellness brands is an advantage.
  • Previous experience working with influencers, content creators, or brand ambassadors is a plus.
  • English–French bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of projects, and contributing ideas from concept through execution.

Benefits

  • Remote flexibility: Fully remote position within Canada, with a preference for candidates based in the Greater Toronto or Vancouver areas. Remote arrangements elsewhere in Canada may also be considered.
  • Creative ownership: The opportunity to shape social media strategy, develop original content, and influence how a growing brand connects with its community.
  • Meaningful impact: Direct involvement in building brand awareness, strengthening consumer relationships, and supporting expansion in an important growth market.
  • Collaborative environment: Work closely with local marketing colleagues and global creative teams in a hands-on, fast-moving setting.
  • Professional growth: Gain practical experience across social strategy, content production, community management, creator partnerships, and campaign activations.
  • Active lifestyle culture: Opportunities to participate in activities such as run clubs, group workouts, races, and sporting events.
  • Purpose-driven workplace: Join an international environment that values innovation, courage, drive, responsibility, and more sustainable business practices.
