About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Architect, Security Platform based in United States.

As a Senior Software Architect, you will provide technical and architectural leadership across a portfolio of security-focused software products and platforms. You will shape the design of scalable, secure, and high-performing systems while helping engineering teams navigate complex technical challenges. Working across frontend, backend, browser, client, and distributed systems, you will establish architectural standards and guide critical design decisions. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic direction with prototyping, code reviews, and technical problem-solving. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Security leaders to support platform growth, strengthen system reliability, and advance the next generation of cybersecurity solutions. The role offers full-time remote flexibility, with a hybrid option for candidates near El Dorado Hills, California, or Chicago, Illinois.

Accountabilities

•

Define and drive software architecture across multiple product areas, including privileged access management, browser extensions, and other core security platforms.

•

Establish scalable architectural patterns and technical standards spanning frontend, backend, client applications, and distributed systems.

•

Lead architecture reviews and guide major technical design decisions for complex initiatives involving multiple products and teams.

•

Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to translate business and product needs into robust, scalable technical solutions.

•

Evaluate architectural trade-offs across centralized and distributed systems, monolithic and microservices-based designs, synchronous and asynchronous processing, and cloud-native deployment models.

•

Design and guide systems with a strong focus on security, reliability, performance, extensibility, and long-term maintainability.

•

Shape architecture for APIs, services, authentication, authorization, data flows, and integrations across product teams.

•

Provide technical leadership for high-scale SaaS platforms and security-sensitive workflows, including browser-based, desktop, endpoint, and platform components.

•

Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and scalability limitations, then develop and implement practical remediation strategies.

•

Build prototypes and reference implementations to validate architectural approaches and reduce delivery risks.

•

Review critical code and design changes, offering technical guidance to senior and staff-level engineers.

•

Collaborate with Security teams on secure architecture, threat modeling, and the protection of sensitive information and credentials.

•

Establish best practices for observability, reliability, testing, and operational readiness across distributed environments.

•

Mentor experienced engineers and influence technical direction across multiple teams.

•

Assess emerging technologies, frameworks, and architectural approaches that can improve platform capabilities and developer productivity.

•

Leverage AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude, ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot, to accelerate research, prototyping, coding, debugging, and technical documentation.

Requirements

•

At least 10 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial software architecture or technical leadership responsibilities.

•

Proven track record of architecting and delivering large-scale production software across multiple products or platform areas.

•

Broad full-stack engineering expertise covering frontend and backend development, APIs, and distributed systems.

•

Demonstrated experience designing secure, scalable, and highly available SaaS architectures.

•

Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented and modular design principles, and architectural trade-offs.

•

Practical experience with distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native application design.

•

Deep knowledge of authentication, authorization, identity management, access control, and secure application architecture.

•

Experience designing and integrating APIs, shared services, and cross-product platform capabilities.

•

Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational database architecture, data modeling, and performance optimization.

•

Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment environments, including AWS, containers, and Kubernetes.

•

Strong application performance, profiling, debugging, and reliability engineering skills.

•

Ability to assess trade-offs involving scalability, resilience, maintainability, and developer productivity.

•

Proven ability to influence technical decisions and collaborate effectively across multiple engineering teams without relying on direct authority.

•

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to engineers, Product teams, and senior leadership.

•

Demonstrated ability and willingness to use modern AI-assisted development tools for research, architecture, coding, and technical analysis.

•

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
