About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant based in the United States.

The Senior Revenue Accountant will own end-to-end revenue accounting and customer billing operations for a growing, private equity-backed SaaS organization. This role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with opportunities to improve financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and support business growth. Working closely with the Controller and cross-functional teams, you will oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, collections, revenue recognition, and compliance with ASC 606. You will also contribute to month-end close, audit readiness, acquisition integrations, revenue forecasting, and financial reporting. As a technical resource for the accounting team, you will provide guidance and help coordinate work without direct supervisory responsibilities. This remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys solving complex revenue challenges, mentoring colleagues, and building scalable processes in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Accountabilities

•

Own the end-to-end client invoicing process, ensuring accurate and timely billing.

•

Manage accounts receivable, customer account maintenance, aging reviews, collections, and dispute resolution.

•

Monitor and report revenue cycle metrics, including days sales outstanding (DSO), collection effectiveness, unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, and billing accuracy.

•

Review client contracts and collaborate with relevant teams to establish appropriate billing arrangements and revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606.

•

Prepare and maintain revenue recognition schedules, deferred revenue reconciliations, and monthly revenue recognition entries.

•

Support month-end close activities and contribute to revenue forecasting, backlog analysis, and recurring revenue reporting.

•

Partner with Client Success, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Sales to coordinate contract setup, billing, and revenue accounting activities.

•

Support acquisition integrations and standardize billing, collection, and revenue recognition processes across the organization.

•

Develop and strengthen revenue accounting controls, policies, and procedures while identifying opportunities to automate workflows in NetSuite.

•

Prepare audit schedules and respond to requests related to revenue, accounts receivable, unbilled revenue, and deferred revenue.

•

Provide technical guidance and day-to-day work direction to accounting team members on billing, collections, and revenue recognition.

•

Lead special projects and ad hoc financial analyses in collaboration with senior finance leadership.

Requirements

•

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification or progress toward a CPA designation strongly preferred.

•

At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 or more years in a senior or lead accountant capacity.

•

Required experience in the SaaS industry; experience in a private equity-backed organization is preferred.

•

Required proficiency with NetSuite and advanced Excel skills.

•

Strong understanding of US GAAP and the ability to apply accounting standards to practical business situations.

•

Demonstrated expertise in ASC 606, including complex SaaS and professional services contracts, variable consideration, contract modifications, and multi-element arrangements.

•

Hands-on experience managing SaaS billing, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, and contract reviews.

•

Proven ability to oversee accounts receivable and collection processes effectively.

•

Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

•

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to influence, mentor, and coordinate colleagues without formal management authority.

•

Experience improving accounting processes while maintaining responsibility for day-to-day transactions is an advantage.

•

Audit experience and familiarity with governmental clients, billing, and reporting are additional assets.

•

Must be eligible to work in the United States without employer-provided visa sponsorship, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

Benefits

•

Salary: $100,000–$115,000 per year.

•

Remote work: Virtual-first organizational culture, supporting collaboration across locations.

•

Flexible paid time off: Flexible PTO to support personal needs and work-life balance.

•

Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with employer matching.

•

Healthcare coverage: Multiple medical, prescription, dental, and vision plan options.

•

Income protection: Short-term and long-term disability coverage for employees.

•

Life insurance: Employee life insurance coverage.

•
