About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer based in the United States.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will play a key technical role in defining how custom mechanical components are manufactured, evaluated, and priced. This hands-on position combines manufacturing engineering expertise with cost analysis, quoting, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM), helping customers bring products to market efficiently and cost-effectively. You will work across a broad range of manufacturing processes while advising on technical feasibility, production requirements, and design improvements. Acting as a senior technical resource, you will also mentor engineers, strengthen engineering standards, and improve consistency across geographically distributed teams. The role offers significant autonomy and close collaboration with engineering, sourcing, sales, quality, and software stakeholders in a remote-first environment.

Accountabilities

•

Review engineering release packages, including CAD models, technical drawings, parts lists, and supporting documentation, to assess manufacturing feasibility, project scope, requirements, and minimum lead times.

•

Develop accurate and competitive quotes by combining engineering analysis with platform recommendations and, when necessary, coordinating with external manufacturing suppliers.

•

Create cost calculators using manufacturing expertise and an understanding of process cost drivers to support in-house quoting for new services.

•

Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) recommendations, helping customers improve designs, reduce production costs, and simplify assembly.

•

Share technical feedback with the quoting software team to improve automated quoting accuracy across manufacturing services.

•

Generate high-quality 2D engineering drawings in accordance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards.

•

Coach and mentor engineers across U.S. and Global Capability Center (GCC) teams, sharing technical knowledge in fabrication, costing, and DFM.

•

Establish, document, and promote engineering best practices, including peer reviews and quality checks that improve technical consistency across regions.

•

Lead cross-functional initiatives by influencing and coordinating engineering, sourcing, sales, quality, and software teams without relying on direct reporting authority.

•

Provide technical guidance to engineers and regional partners working on shared initiatives, ensuring alignment and progress.

•

Contribute to the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) and maintain applicable quality standards.

Requirements

•

A four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical training.

•

5–10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, costing, DFM, or custom mechanical hardware development.

•

Hands-on experience with multiple custom manufacturing processes, such as sheet metal fabrication, urethane casting, and injection molding.

•

Demonstrated experience with both CNC machining and 3D printing.

•

Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), conventional coordinate tolerancing, and the manufacturing characteristics and limitations of common metals and plastics.

•

Experience mentoring or coaching engineers and serving as a trusted technical resource; experience collaborating with offshore or GCC teams is an advantage.

•

Proven ability to lead through influence, coordinate cross-functional teams, and manage projects involving stakeholders without direct reporting relationships.

•

Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage priorities end to end, exercise sound technical judgment, and drive decisions to completion with minimal supervision.

•

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multicultural and cross-functional teams.

•

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate documentation.

•

Familiarity with APQP/PPAP, IQ/OQ/PQ, EV/DV/PV, or New Product Introduction (NPI) processes is beneficial; PMP certification is also a plus.

•

Experience in regulated manufacturing environments, particularly those governed by AS9100, ISO 13485, or similar standards, is highly recommended.

•

Ability to perform primarily computer-based work involving extended periods reviewing CAD models and engineering drawings, with occasional visits to manufacturing facilities.

•

Must meet applicable U.S. work authorization and export-control eligibility requirements for the role.

Benefits

•

Annual base salary: $108,000–$129,000, depending on experience.

•

Comprehensive medical and dental coverage.

•

401(k) retirement plan.

•

Generous paid time off (PTO) and leave programs.

•

Primarily remote work arrangement within the United States.

•

A collaborative and supportive team environment that values respect, honesty, diverse perspectives, and continuous learning.

•

Opportunities to contribute to professional growth and the development of a high-quality engineering organization.
