About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to complex engineering and environmental projects involving landfills, mines, brownfield redevelopment, and water and waste containment systems.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership across geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering assignments, from site characterization and analysis to design and construction support.

You will apply your expertise in civil design, slope stability, settlement analysis, seismic assessment, and seepage evaluation to develop practical, reliable solutions.

Beyond technical delivery, you will help strengthen engineering capabilities through client relationship management, business development, and proposal support.

You will also have opportunities to manage projects, guide technical teams, and mentor developing professionals.

This position offers a collaborative consulting environment where technical excellence, innovation, and professional development are highly valued.

The role is primarily associated with Cincinnati, Ohio, or Boca Raton, Florida, with the possibility of fully remote work subject to approval.

Accountabilities

You will lead and contribute to multidisciplinary geotechnical and geoenvironmental projects, combining technical expertise with project coordination, client engagement, and team development. Your responsibilities will include:

•

Perform civil engineering design activities, including landfill design, vapor mitigation design, and site layout development.

•

Conduct geotechnical engineering analyses, including slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic assessments, and seepage evaluations.

•

Lead and support geotechnical and environmental site characterization activities.

•

Develop, implement, and manage instrumentation and monitoring systems.

•

Support project and task management activities, including coordinating deliverables, schedules, and technical resources.

•

Contribute to business development through proposal preparation, client relationship management, and identification of new project opportunities.

•

Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, technical drawings, specifications, and permit applications.

•

Provide field support associated with engineering design, site investigations, and construction services.

•

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically sound solutions that meet client requirements and project objectives.

•

Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers and other technical staff.

•

Contribute to the expansion of engineering practices, technical capabilities, and service offerings.

•

Travel to client facilities, project locations, and company offices as required, including driving personal, company, or rental vehicles.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a technically accomplished geotechnical engineering professional with consulting experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage complex assignments independently. You should meet the following qualifications:

•

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

•

Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.).

•

At least 8 years of directly relevant experience in an engineering consulting environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

•

Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software, particularly slope stability analysis tools.

•

Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and their application to complex infrastructure and environmental projects.

•

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documentation and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.

•

Ability to manage multiple project assignments in a fast-paced consulting environment while meeting demanding deadlines.

•

Willingness and ability to travel to client facilities and project sites as needed.

•

Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business-related travel.

Additional qualifications that would be an advantage include

•

Advanced degree in Earth Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.

•

Experience with numerical modeling tools.

•

Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and required refresher courses.

•

Experience with instrumentation monitoring systems and fieldwork in geotechnical or environmental engineering projects.

Candidates should also be prepared to complete any required health and safety training, medical monitoring, and client-specific drug screening or background checks. Fieldwork and overnight travel may be necessary.

Benefits

•

Competitive compensation.

•

Comprehensive employee benefits.

•

Well-being programs and support for employees and their families.

•

Potential for fully remote work, subject to approval.

•

Opportunities to work on technically challenging and innovative engineering projects.

•

Professional development through collaboration with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams.

•

Opportunities to develop leadership, project management, client relationship, and business development skills.

•

A collaborative environment that encourages technical excellence, mentoring, and career growth.
