About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Front End Engineer – React/TypeScript based in the United States.

We are looking for a Senior Front End Engineer to help shape the tools, architecture, and technologies powering a large-scale micro frontend ecosystem.

In this role, you will contribute to the development of shared frontend capabilities, including design systems, reusable project templates, deployment pipelines, analytics, and observability tools.

Your work will influence the experience and productivity of engineering teams across multiple digital products.

You will take ownership of complex technical initiatives, lead projects from planning through delivery, and help define goals when requirements are ambiguous.

Working closely with engineers, product stakeholders, and other teams, you will contribute to technical strategy while promoting high-quality development practices.

This opportunity offers significant autonomy, technical visibility, and the chance to make a broad impact within an established engineering organization.

The position is hybrid in Chicago, with three work-from-home days per week, or fully remote for candidates based outside the Chicago area.

Accountabilities

You will lead engineering initiatives and deliver high-quality frontend solutions while helping improve the shared technologies used across the organization's digital products. Your responsibilities will include:

•

Lead team-level projects, translating sometimes ambiguous guidance into clear objectives, technical plans, and measurable outcomes.

•

Communicate with stakeholders to establish project priorities, align expectations, and coordinate both technical and non-technical work.

•

Contribute actively to product strategy and prioritization discussions at the team level.

•

Develop and deliver well-defined features, software fixes, and technical improvements efficiently and consistently.

•

Support the evolution of the micro frontend ecosystem and its shared engineering tools, including design systems, project templates, deployment pipelines, analytics, and observability solutions.

•

Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and incorporating feedback from fellow engineers.

•

Exercise sound technical judgment when navigating complex problems, making project-level decisions, and balancing competing priorities.

•

Promote code quality, collaboration, and effective engineering practices across the frontend development community.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer who combines strong React development skills with project leadership capabilities and an understanding of modern frontend architecture. The following qualifications are expected:

•

At least 3 years of professional software development experience working as part of an engineering team.

•

Proven experience leading projects at the team level, including planning, coordination, and delivery.

•

Hands-on experience developing applications with React.

•

Understanding of micro frontend architecture principles and their application in scalable frontend ecosystems.

•

Experience working with GitHub Actions workflows.

•

Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills, particularly when requirements or project objectives are not fully defined.

•

Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.

•

Experience providing and receiving constructive code review feedback.

•

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities while maintaining a consistent delivery pace.

•

Familiarity with TypeScript is relevant to the advertised role.

Additional employment requirement

•

Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States and remain authorized for the foreseeable future. Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Benefits

•

Annual base salary: $112,900–$188,100, depending on experience, skills, and geographic location.

•

Performance incentive: Eligible for an incentive target of up to 10%, based on individual and company performance objectives.

•

Flexible work arrangement: Hybrid schedule with three work-from-home days per week for employees based in the Chicago area, or fully remote work for eligible candidates outside Chicago.

•

Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance beginning on the first day of employment.

•

Mental health support: Six complimentary sessions per year with a licensed therapist.

•

Paid time off: 18 days of annual PTO for full-time employees, prorated based on the employment start date.

•

Company holidays: Six paid company holidays annually.

•

Retirement savings: 6% employer contribution to a 401(k) plan each pay period, with no employee contribution required.

•

Financial and educational support: Employee discounts, tuition reimbursement, student loan refinancing, and free access to financial counseling, education, and tools.

•

Parental benefits: Maternity support programs, nursing benefits, and up to 14 weeks of paid leave for birth parents and up to four weeks for non-birth parents.

•

Inclusive workplace: Commitment to equal employment opportunities, accessibility, and reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process and employment.
