About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior AI Software Engineer based in the United States.

Join an innovative engineering team building AI-native software development tools that simplify the creation, validation, packaging, and delivery of secure applications. In this role, you will help develop intelligent workflows that combine AI agents with deterministic systems to produce reliable, deployable software. You will tackle complex challenges involving agent orchestration, isolated execution environments, Kubernetes, and automated software validation. Working closely with Engineering, Product, UX, and end users, you will transform demanding technical requirements into intuitive and dependable product experiences. You will contribute to architectural decisions, take ownership of sophisticated features, and help establish engineering best practices as the product evolves. This is an opportunity to shape the future of secure software delivery in environments where reliability, security, and operational readiness are essential.

Accountabilities

As a Senior AI Software Engineer, you will design and deliver AI-powered development capabilities while ensuring that generated software remains secure, testable, and ready for deployment. Your responsibilities will include:

•

AI-Driven Development Workflows: Build intelligent workflows that help users create, package, validate, maintain, and prepare mission applications for deployment.

•

AI Agent Orchestration: Develop systems that combine AI reasoning with deterministic tools, automated validation, and human oversight to deliver dependable outcomes.

•

Secure Execution Environments: Create isolated development environments for running AI agents and building software securely.

•

Cloud-Native Integration: Integrate Kubernetes, UDS packaging, containers, and software delivery tools into automated development workflows.

•

Application State and Workflow Management: Build systems that manage persistent application state, asynchronous execution, and complex development processes.

•

Automated Testing and Validation: Develop testing and validation capabilities that verify generated software and packaged applications for security, reliability, and deployability.

•

Technical Design and Architecture: Own the design, implementation, testing, and delivery of complex features while contributing to architectural decisions across product components.

•

Problem-Solving and Debugging: Investigate and resolve complex technical issues involving Kubernetes, virtualization, storage, networking, and operating systems.

•

Reliability and Performance: Improve software security, performance, observability, maintainability, and operational resilience.

•

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Product, UX, Engineering, and end users to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguity, and translate challenging problems into effective solutions.

•

Code Quality and Mentorship: Review code, mentor teammates, share technical knowledge, and promote strong engineering practices.

•

Technical Documentation: Document architectural decisions and implementation details while communicating clearly across teams.

•

Continuous Improvement: Adapt to evolving product priorities and contribute to the development of engineering practices as the platform grows.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with strong systems knowledge, practical AI integration experience, and the ability to deliver complex solutions independently. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity and balancing innovation with security, reliability, and maintainability. Required and preferred qualifications include:

•

At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.

•

Strong proficiency in a modern programming language, with Go and TypeScript preferred.

•

Experience designing, building, and operating production software products.

•

Practical experience integrating large language models (LLMs), AI agents, or AI-powered capabilities into software applications.

•

Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, and application architecture.

•

Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native application development.

•

Experience building reliable, testable systems using automated validation and CI/CD pipelines.

•

Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, resolve ambiguity, and independently deliver complex engineering solutions.

•

Strong communication, collaboration, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

•

Preferred additional experience

•

Building AI agent orchestration systems, coding agents, or AI-powered developer tools.

•

Familiarity with LLM evaluation, tool calling, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and agent execution frameworks.

•

Experience with secure sandboxing, isolated execution environments, or Kata Containers.

•

Developing developer platforms, command-line interfaces (CLIs), or software development automation.

•

Familiarity with Zarf, Helm, Kubernetes operators, or software packaging workflows.

•

Experience with software supply chain security, artifact validation, and deployment automation.

•

Developing software for air-gapped, regulated, or otherwise restricted environments.

•

Contributions to open-source projects or developer tooling.

•

U.S. citizenship is required because the employer is a contractor supporting the U.S. government.

•

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The role is remote within the United States.

•

Travel requirements are limited to approximately 0–5%.

Benefits

•

Annual salary: $148,750–$201,250 USD, with the final compensation package based on experience. The range applies nationally across the United States.

•

Health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 100% of employee premiums paid by the company.

•

Health and protection benefits: Health Savings Account (HSA), life insurance, and disability insurance.

•

Retirement and equity: 401(k) retirement plan and company stock options.

•

Remote work support: Home office budget.

•

Paid time off: Flexible Time Off (FTO) for full-time employees, in addition to all federal holidays.

•

Holiday breaks: One week off for Thanksgiving and two weeks off for Christmas and New Year’s.

•

Parental leave: Paid parental leave.

•

Professional development: Reimbursement for approved training programs and subscriptions.

•

Conferences: Support for conference attendance, including travel, lodging, and registration fees.

•

Mission-driven work: Opportunities to contribute to secure, cloud-native software delivery and open-source technology supporting critical public-sector and enterprise missions.
