About the job
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Retail Media Manager based in the United States.
As a Retail Media Manager, you will lead commerce media strategy across a diverse brand portfolio, driving household growth and improving the return on media investment. You will oversee retail media initiatives across major US and Canadian retailers, including Walmart, Kroger, Loblaw, Albertsons, Meijer, and Instacart. Working closely with Sales, Brand, Shopper Marketing, and external agency partners, you will connect brand objectives with retailer-specific opportunities. You will own media budgets, guide investment decisions, and develop measurement frameworks focused on customer acquisition, household penetration, and incremental sales. Beyond campaign execution, you will help shape the organization's broader media strategy as the business evolves. This is an opportunity to influence commercial growth through data-driven decision-making in a fast-moving consumer goods environment.
Accountabilities
You will define and execute the commerce media strategy, ensuring that investments support brand growth, household penetration, and measurable commercial outcomes.
•
Establish the long-term commerce media vision across key retail partners, including Walmart, Kroger, Loblaw, Albertsons, Meijer, Instacart, Sam's Club, and emerging retail media networks.
•
Develop annual and quarterly media strategies that connect brand priorities with customer plans, identifying the retailers and channels offering the strongest growth opportunities.
•
Collaborate with leadership to shape the broader media roadmap, influencing how media is planned, purchased, and measured as the role expands.
•
Monitor developments in retail media, artificial intelligence, and emerging advertising networks, translating market trends into competitive opportunities.
•
Own the commerce media budget and optimize investment allocation toward tactics that reduce customer acquisition costs (CPA) and recruit new households.
•
Lead strategic discussions and negotiations with retail media networks, challenge proposals that lack evidence of incremental returns, and develop joint business plans that support category growth.
•
Coordinate closely with creative and media agency partners to ensure creative execution, brand media, and commerce media operate as an integrated strategy.
•
Align media initiatives with Sales, Brand, and Shopper Marketing teams to deliver a consistent shopper experience from initial awareness through purchase.
•
Own the media measurement framework, prioritizing CPA, household penetration (HHP), and incrementality over vanity metrics.
•
Design and manage incrementality testing, including holdout groups, lift studies, and new-to-brand analysis, to assess the actual business impact of media investments.
•
Translate campaign results and performance data into clear recommendations for senior leadership and retail partners.
•
Reallocate budgets and adjust strategies quickly based on performance insights and demonstrated business impact.
•
Raise media strategy standards across the team and wider organization through knowledge sharing and informed recommendations.
Requirements
The ideal candidate combines consumer packaged goods (CPG) experience with strong commercial judgment, retail media expertise, and the ability to translate data into strategic business decisions.
•
At least 5 years of experience in the CPG industry, ideally in a Brand Manager or eCommerce Sales Manager role.
•
Strong commercial understanding, including P&L management, trade dynamics, and the relationship between media investment, sales performance, and household growth.
•
Working knowledge of retail media networks such as Walmart Connect, Kroger Precision Marketing (84.51), Loblaw Advance, and Instacart Ads.
•
Hands-on retail media campaign management experience is an advantage.
•
Strong understanding of CPA, household penetration (HHP), and incrementality, or a demonstrated willingness and ability to develop expertise in these areas quickly.
•
Experience managing agencies and external partners, setting expectations, and holding them accountable for measurable business outcomes.
•
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn complex data into clear recommendations.
•
Confidence presenting and defending strategic recommendations with senior stakeholders and retail partners.
•
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
•
Willingness to travel approximately 15% within Canada and the United States.
•
Ability to work remotely, with occasional visits to the Toronto office.
Benefits
•
Annual salary range of $100,000–$130,000 USD .
•
Competitive compensation package.
•
Health benefits and a generous flexible medical and health spending account.
•
401(k) retirement savings program.
•
Tuition reimbursement.
•
Career development opportunities, including accelerated growth and leadership training.
•
Employee discount program covering a wide range of categories, including restaurants, gyms, shopping, and other activities.
•
Entrepreneurial and collaborative work environment that encourages creativity, initiative, and innovative thinking.
•
Remote work arrangement with occasional office visits.
•
Opportunity to influence media strategy and commercial growth across a portfolio of consumer brands.
