This role works under the supervision of our physician Principal Investigator and Clinical Operations leadership on the conduct of a pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trial in accordance with FDA regulations and GCP guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hematology consultations for clinical trial participants who discontinue clozapine due to protocol-defined low neutrophil counts, including severe neutropenia and applicable moderate neutropenia events on an as-needed basis
  • Review relevant blood test results, particularly absolute neutrophil count (ANC), and provide clinical assessments and recommendations to support participant safety, appropriate medical follow-up, and compliance with study-specific safety guidelines.
  • Identify and escalate clinically significant findings and changes in participant condition in collaboration with the site Principal Investigator
  • Document assessments in source records accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with study protocols, HIPAA, and ALCOA+ standards, and support audit and monitoring readiness
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations, and institutional policies related to investigational drug services.

Job Requirements

  • Current and unrestricted license to practice as a physician in the state of Texas required
  • This is a per-diem position with an estimated time commitment of less than 1-2 hours per week, with some weeks requiring no involvement at all. Consults are scheduled based on study visit windows and clinical needs.
  • Recent experience in clinical practice required, preferably within an outpatient setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Confident with documenting information electronically in a variety of systems, such as electronic medical records, required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clinical research experience preferred, although not required.
