About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Associate Compliance based in the United States.

Join a forward-thinking financial technology environment at the intersection of digital assets, securities, and regulatory innovation. In this role, you will help oversee and strengthen the compliance framework of a U.S. broker-dealer, ensuring adherence to applicable FINRA, SEC, and state regulations. You will play a key role in compliance monitoring, risk assessments, surveillance, regulatory reporting, and the continuous improvement of internal controls. Working closely with compliance leadership and cross-functional teams, you will address emerging risks, oversee marketing communications, and support regulatory examinations and audits. You will also contribute to employee onboarding, compliance education, and the development of effective supervisory procedures. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced compliance professional who combines regulatory expertise, strategic thinking, and a strong interest in the evolving digital asset industry.

Accountabilities

  • Compliance Program Management: Support the execution and continuous improvement of the broker-dealer compliance program, including risk assessments, monitoring, testing, surveillance, and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Risk Monitoring and Remediation: Review and address daily alerts related to Know Your Customer (KYC), Customer Identification Program (CIP), suitability, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and sanctions. Identify control weaknesses, coordinate remediation, and recommend enhancements to policies and procedures.
  • Supervisory Procedures and Internal Controls: Maintain and update written supervisory procedures, surveillance frameworks, compliance testing programs, and employee education initiatives. Review testing results and ensure identified concerns are appropriately addressed.
  • Regulatory Risk Oversight: Monitor compliance risks and challenge the timely reporting, escalation, and remediation of deficiencies, regulatory matters, and control issues.
  • Regulatory Reporting and Certifications: Coordinate with compliance leadership to prepare the annual CEO certification report under FINRA Rule 3130 and support other recurring regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Marketing and Communications Compliance: Review marketing materials, sales collateral, social media content, and other business communications to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Electronic Communications Surveillance: Administer and oversee electronic communications surveillance processes, assess vendor platform effectiveness, and ensure required written communications are appropriately captured and retained across approved channels.
  • Regulatory Change Management: Assess new regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry developments, particularly those affecting marketing and broker-dealer activities, and recommend appropriate policy or control updates.
  • Employee Onboarding and Compliance Administration: Partner with HR and other business teams to complete required onboarding procedures, including Form U4 filings, fingerprinting, disclosures, outside business activities (OBAs), personal account dealing (PAD) requirements, questionnaires, attestations, and compliance training.
  • Regulatory Examinations and Audits: Support responses to regulatory examinations, audits, inquiries, and information requests, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with compliance leadership and business teams to address complex issues, strengthen operational controls, and align compliance activities with business objectives and evolving regulatory expectations.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of proven experience in a retail fintech broker-dealer compliance department, including direct engagement with regulators.
  • Licensing and Qualifications: Active Series 7 and Series 24 qualifications, with the ability to obtain any additional required licenses or registrations promptly.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of broker-dealer regulations, including applicable FINRA, SEC, and state requirements, as well as relevant industry standards and practices.
  • Compliance Program Implementation: Previous experience implementing, administering, or enhancing a broker-dealer compliance program, including supervisory procedures, risk assessments, monitoring, testing, and surveillance.
  • Financial Crime and Customer Compliance: Familiarity with KYC, CIP, customer suitability, PEP screening, sanctions controls, and related compliance monitoring processes.
  • Marketing and Communications Oversight: Experience reviewing marketing and sales materials, electronic communications, social media content, and other regulated communications.
  • Regulatory Reporting and Issue Management: Ability to coordinate compliance reporting, manage regulatory issues, document findings, and oversee remediation activities within established deadlines.
  • Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical judgment, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to assess complex situations, identify risks, and develop effective solutions.
  • Project and Time Management: Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence stakeholders, explain regulatory requirements, and work effectively across departments.
  • Adaptability and Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving business and regulatory needs, make difficult decisions, accept challenging assignments, and respond effectively to emerging risks.
  • Digital Asset Industry Interest: An interest in cryptocurrency, digital assets, financial technology, and the development of modern financial markets is highly valuable.
  • Integrity and Professionalism: A strong commitment to ethical conduct, regulatory accountability, confidentiality, and fair treatment of customers and colleagues.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: Target annual base salary range of $83,400–$166,800 , depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and the scope of responsibilities.
  • Additional Compensation: Eligibility for bonus incentives and equity-based compensation, subject to applicable program terms.
  • Healthcare Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision benefits for eligible U.S. employees.
  • Retirement Benefits: Access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Wellness Allowance: Additional support for eligible wellness-related expenses.
  • Remote Work Flexibility: Fully remote position based in the United States.
  • Professional Development: Opportunities to expand regulatory expertise and develop professionally within the financial technology and digital asset sectors.
