About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Master Data Manager based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Master Data Manager to lead enterprise-wide data governance and ensure the accuracy, consistency, security, and reliability of critical business information. In this role, you will oversee master data processes across customer, vendor, material, pricing, hierarchy, and financial domains. You will translate enterprise data strategies into practical governance frameworks, standards, workflows, and measurable improvements. Working closely with Finance, IT, SAP teams, and business stakeholders, you will establish clear ownership and strengthen data quality across the organization. You will also play a key role in supporting SAP S/4HANA initiatives, automation, analytics, compliance, and operational efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity to influence enterprise-wide processes, drive continuous improvement, and help build a scalable data management environment that supports long-term business growth.

Accountabilities

•

Translate enterprise Master Data strategies, priorities, and governance objectives into practical standards, procedures, controls, implementation plans, and measurable roadmaps.

•

Facilitate Data Governance Council activities by preparing agendas, decision materials, recommendations, performance metrics, action registers, and follow-up communications.

•

Develop, document, maintain, and enforce enterprise-wide data standards, definitions, naming conventions, validation rules, ownership requirements, approval processes, and operating procedures.

•

Manage end-to-end Master Data lifecycle processes, including data creation, modification, extension, blocking, and retirement, ensuring appropriate validation, approvals, documentation, change control, and service-level expectations.

•

Oversee governance across multiple data domains, including customer, vendor, business partner, bank, material, pricing, hierarchy, and financial data such as chart of accounts, cost centers, profit centers, internal orders, payment terms, and reason codes.

•

Establish data quality standards, monitoring frameworks, dashboards, and remediation processes to identify and resolve duplicate, incomplete, inaccurate, inconsistent, or noncompliant records.

•

Collaborate with business data owners and stewards across Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Manufacturing to clarify responsibilities, facilitate decisions, and strengthen data accountability.

•

Partner with IT and SAP teams on system configurations, integrations, enhancements, workflow automation, testing, releases, user acceptance testing, cutover, and stabilization activities.

•

Lead cross-functional investigations into Master Data issues, manage escalations, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures to minimize operational disruption and recurring errors.

•

Ensure Master Data processes comply with internal policies, authorization requirements, security standards, segregation of duties, regulatory expectations, and audit requirements.

•

Develop training materials, communications, and process guidance to support the adoption of data governance standards among business users, data owners, stewards, and approvers.

•

Define and monitor key performance indicators, including data quality, duplicate reduction, request processing time, first-time-right rates, issue resolution, stakeholder satisfaction, and compliance results.

•

Drive continuous improvement by using performance insights and stakeholder feedback to prioritize automation, streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, and strengthen operational efficiency.

•

Provide cross-functional leadership by promoting shared accountability, facilitating collaboration, and serving as the primary operational contact for Master Data governance and process-related questions.

•

Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into clear policies, procedures, standards, workflows, decision documents, and training materials.

•

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, interpret data quality metrics, assess risks, and recommend practical solutions.

•

•

Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build alignment across technical and non-technical teams.

•

Strong organizational and project management abilities, including the capacity to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple initiatives, and ensure consistent follow-through in a changing environment.

•

Relevant certifications in data management, governance, project management, or process improvement, such as CDMP, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma, are preferred but not mandatory.

•
