About the job
Experience level: not applicable.
What you’ll do
- Design interactive data visualizations for the corporate website, primarily using Highcharts.
- Design custom scroll-based animations, including scrubbed, triggered, and pinned scroll behaviors, along with parallax effects and microinteractions.
- Create production-ready Figma designs at the client’s responsive breakpoints (1440, 1200, 992, 768, and 375px), using the client’s design system.
- Build functional, inspectable prototypes in HTML/CSS/JavaScript or in tools such as Figma Make, Framer, or Webflow that clearly show scroll behavior and the entry and exit states for each scene.
- Write clear animation specifications for engineering, documenting the motion system, trigger points, scene-by-scene start and end states, durations, scroll distances, and easing.
- Partner with the client’s internal engineering team through handoff and implementation.
- Help estimate project timelines and level of effort as the work takes shape.
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience in interactive, motion, or web design, with a portfolio of live scroll-driven and interactive web experiences.
- Strong front-end prototyping skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with web animation libraries such as GSAP/ScrollTrigger, or similar.
- Experience designing interactive data visualizations or charts for the web.
- Expert-level Figma skills and experience working within an established design system.
- A solid understanding of performance-conscious and accessible animation, including reduced-motion preferences, frame rate, and layout stability.
- Experience handing off motion work to engineering teams with clear, detailed documentation.
- Comfort working independently and remotely on a flexible, project-based schedule.
Nice to have
- Hands-on Highcharts experience or experience with other charting libraries (D3.js, Chart.js).
- Experience with Lottie, Rive, or other web animation formats.
- Experience with financial services, corporate, or investor-facing websites.
- Experience prototyping in Figma Make, Framer, or Webflow interactions.

Our client, a global alternative asset manager, is looking for a freelance interactive motion designer with front-end prototyping skills to help bring its corporate website to life. You’ll design and prototype interactive data visualizations, scroll-based storytelling, parallax effects, and microinteractions, then hand them off to the client’s in-house engineering team for production. The role is part designer, part front-end developer. It’s ideal for someone who thinks in motion, prototypes in code, and knows what it takes to make web animation responsive, accessible, and performant.
This is a project-based engagement that starts at about 10-20 hours per week, with flexibility to scale up or down as projects require. The client plans to grow this work more in 2027.
