About the job
About Us
Project FoodBox is built on a simple belief: food is healthcare.
We’re a Food as Medicine company working with health plans, community organizations, and local farms to deliver medically tailored groceries to people living with chronic conditions and communities facing food insecurity across California and New York. Since 2020, we've delivered nearly 10 million boxes — over 250 million pounds of fresh food.
We're scaling fast and building the systems, processes, and infrastructure to support national growth. The people who join now will shape how we get there.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Director of Strategic Partnerships to drive growth for our programs across new states and new markets. You’ll own the full business development cycle with managed care organizations and payer partners — identifying opportunities, building the relationship, and closing the contract — across Medicaid, Medicare, PACE, and commercial segments. You’ll also help shape our grant and RFP strategy and represent us at industry forums and with stakeholders. You’ll report to the Head of Sales and work closely with leadership across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Identify, develop, and close new business across Medicaid, Medicare, and PACE programs at the state and regional level
- Build and deepen relationships with managed care organizations and payer partners, positioning MTM and MTG as value-added benefits that improve outcomes and reduce cost
- Lead the full sales cycle from first conversation through signed contract
- Build and execute strategic plans to expand into additional markets, including commercial and employer segments
- Partner with internal teams to design solutions that fit what payer and community partners actually need
- Contribute to grant and RFP development and response for our Food Is Medicine programs
- Own revenue and contract-generation targets, and report on KPIs tied to partnership growth and program impact
What You Bring
Required
- 6+ years in healthcare business development, partnerships, managed care, or value-based care
- Track record closing new business with MCOs, health plans, or payers, owning the cycle from prospect through signed contract
- Working knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare program structures and how social care benefits get purchased
- Experience carrying and hitting a revenue or contract-generation target
- Comfort operating autonomously in a high-growth environment where process is still being built
Preferred
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
- Experience in RFP or grant-funded environments
- Experience with PACE programs, or with Medically Tailored Meals and Groceries specifically
- Experience expanding healthcare programs into Medicare, commercial, or employer markets
Compensation & Benefits
The expected salary range for this role is $130,000 - $145,000 annually, plus performance bonus and benefits. Compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and location.
Benefits
- Paid holidays and flexible, unlimited PTO
- Medical/Dental/Vision plan options
- Weekly food box for employees within delivery zones
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match, subject to plan terms and eligibility
