About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Sales and Marketing based in Canada.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Sales and Marketing to lead commercial growth, strengthen market positioning, and drive long-term profitability across multiple regions. In this senior leadership role, you will oversee sales and marketing operations, develop high-impact growth strategies, and expand dealer and distribution networks. You will play a pivotal role in identifying new market opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and improving commercial performance across assigned territories. Working closely with product development, engineering, and operations teams, you will ensure that commercial strategies align with customer needs and broader business objectives. This position offers the opportunity to lead a high-performing team within an international industrial equipment environment focused on innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth. Based in Alberta or working remotely, you will combine strategic direction with hands-on leadership and significant international travel.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute annual and multi-year sales and marketing strategies aligned with corporate objectives, driving sustainable revenue growth, profitability, market share expansion, and customer retention.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales and marketing organization, fostering accountability, collaboration, and a high-performance culture.
  • Establish ambitious yet achievable sales targets for regional teams and distribution partners, ensuring business continuity and consistent commercial results.
  • Identify opportunities to expand into new markets, strengthen existing territories, and improve the performance of underperforming regions through targeted action plans.
  • Oversee branding, marketing campaigns, lead generation, trade shows, and customer engagement initiatives to increase market visibility and generate qualified business opportunities.
  • Manage sales budgets, financial forecasts, pricing strategies, and pipeline performance, ensuring accurate forecasting and effective use of customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Build and strengthen dealer and distribution networks while developing long-term relationships with key customers and commercial partners.
  • Collaborate with product development, engineering, and operations teams to translate customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and market trends into product and commercial priorities.
  • Monitor competitor activities, pricing developments, industry trends, and emerging market opportunities to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and participate in the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process to improve coordination between commercial priorities, operational capacity, and profitability.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, coaching, succession planning, and talent development across the commercial organization.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational health and safety policies, applicable occupational health and safety requirements, and established best practices.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safety-conscious team environment while maintaining high standards of operational and commercial performance.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of leadership experience in sales, marketing, or commercial management, with a proven ability to deliver measurable business growth.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-regional or international sales organizations, managing diverse teams, and executing commercial strategies across multiple territories.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with profit and loss (P&L) management, budgeting, forecasting, revenue planning, and pricing strategy.
  • Proven experience managing dealer and distribution networks, ideally within the capital equipment, industrial machinery, or related industries.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build productive commercial relationships.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical capabilities, including the ability to assess market trends, evaluate competitor activity, and identify opportunities for sustainable growth.
  • Experience managing sales pipelines, CRM systems, commercial performance metrics, and sales forecasting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, and develop talent while building accountable, collaborative, and high-performing teams.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly when working with product development, engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
  • A solid understanding of operational planning, customer relationship management, and commercial performance improvement.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, compliance, and the promotion of a positive and inclusive organizational culture.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake significant domestic and international travel as required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid or remote environment, with flexibility to accommodate changing business needs and a full-time schedule of at least 40 hours per week.
  • Comfort with frequent customer interactions, occasional interruptions, and a combination of desk-based work, site visits, and travel.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation: Salary package commensurate with experience and leadership responsibilities.
  • Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings: Access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan, subject to applicable eligibility and plan terms.
  • Paid time off: Paid vacation and time away from work.
  • Flexible work arrangements: Hybrid or remote working options, with the role available from Alberta or other eligible remote locations.
  • Career advancement: Opportunities for professional development and progression within an international organization.
  • Leadership opportunities: Direct responsibility for regional sales management, sales coordination, and marketing teams.
  • International exposure: Opportunities to collaborate across markets, strengthen global commercial relationships, and travel internationally.
