About the job
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevOps Engineer – Blockchain Infrastructure based in France.
Join a cutting-edge blockchain infrastructure team dedicated to building secure, reliable, and scalable systems for privacy-preserving applications. In this hands-on role, you will help operate and scale blockchain networks, manage validator infrastructure, and strengthen the reliability of critical production environments. You will work across multi-cloud and bare-metal platforms, developing automation and observability solutions that support high availability and performance. Your work will contribute to the evolution of a federated validator model toward a fully decentralised network. Collaborating with engineering teams and infrastructure partners, you will progressively take ownership of day-to-day operations while driving continuous improvements in security, resilience, and deployment efficiency. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact in a fast-moving blockchain ecosystem while working with modern infrastructure technologies and open-source tooling.
Accountabilities
•
Ensure protocol reliability: Maintain critical blockchain infrastructure with a target of 99.99% uptime, proactively identify reliability risks, and implement improvements to availability and performance.
•
Manage incident response: Participate in the on-call rotation, troubleshoot production incidents, resolve operational issues, and document blameless post-mortems to prevent recurrence.
•
Operate validator infrastructure: Manage, maintain, and automate blockchain validator nodes across multi-cloud and bare-metal environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and optimal performance.
•
Support network decentralisation: Contribute to the transition from a foundation-coordinated federated validator model to a fully decentralised network, helping improve onboarding and deployment templates for Foundation Node Operators (FNOs) and future Stake Pool Operators.
•
Develop infrastructure tooling: Build, maintain, and improve open-source tools that simplify blockchain infrastructure management, deployment, and automation.
•
Strengthen security and performance: Identify vulnerabilities, improve security controls, investigate infrastructure bottlenecks, and implement solutions that enhance system resilience and efficiency.
•
Build deployment pipelines: Design, maintain, and optimise secure CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and other relevant automation tools.
•
Improve monitoring and observability: Develop telemetry solutions, remote monitoring capabilities, and ETL dashboards that provide actionable insights into infrastructure health and performance.
•
Own day-to-day operations: Gradually take responsibility for infrastructure management, coordinate with internal engineering teams and external infrastructure partners, and provide technical recommendations and regular operational feedback.
•
Troubleshoot and optimise environments: Build and configure development, testing, and mainnet environments, resolving deployment issues and protocol-level bottlenecks ahead of network upgrades.
•
Drive continuous improvement: Take initiative in identifying automation opportunities, documenting infrastructure designs, and improving operational processes across distributed teams.
Requirements
•
Professional experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or infrastructure engineering, including at least 1 year working with blockchain infrastructure.
•
Blockchain expertise: Practical experience operating blockchain nodes, validator infrastructure, or comparable distributed systems in production environments.
•
Linux and containers: Strong Linux administration skills and working knowledge of containerisation technologies and Kubernetes.
•
Monitoring and observability: Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar monitoring and observability platforms.
•
Scripting and programming: Strong shell scripting skills, with working knowledge of at least one programming language such as Rust, Go, or Python.
•
Cloud infrastructure: Experience configuring, scaling, and optimising cloud environments, ideally using AWS and Google Cloud.
•
Infrastructure as Code: Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and/or OpenTofu.
•
CI/CD and automation: Experience building and maintaining automated delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent tools.
•
Security and reliability: A solid understanding of infrastructure security principles, vulnerability management, system resilience, and performance optimisation.
•
Communication and documentation: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, document infrastructure architectures, and provide actionable recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
•
Autonomy and problem-solving: A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently, take ownership of technical challenges, and deliver practical solutions in a fast-moving environment.
•
Remote collaboration: Ability to work remotely from an eligible location in Asia, Europe, or Latin America, with 1–2 hours of daily overlap with US or EU time zones.
•
Schedule flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, following either a Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday pattern, and participate in an on-call rotation.
•
Nice to have: Experience with GitOps, Nix, or working in a small, fast-paced technology company.
Benefits
•
Remote work: Work remotely from an eligible location in Asia, Europe, or Latin America, subject to the role's location and availability requirements.
•
Flexible working arrangements: Choose between Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday schedules, with 1–2 hours of daily overlap with US or EU time zones.
•
Meaningful technical impact: Help build and maintain the infrastructure powering privacy-preserving blockchain applications and contribute to the development of a decentralised validator network.
•
Modern technology environment: Work with multi-cloud and bare-metal infrastructure, blockchain validator operations, open-source tooling, automation, and observability technologies.
•
Ownership and autonomy: Take increasing responsibility for infrastructure operations, technical decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
•
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams and infrastructure specialists on reliability, security, and network scalability.
•
Professional development: Expand your expertise in blockchain infrastructure, distributed systems, cloud engineering, and decentralised network operations.
•
Employment type: Full-time, mid-level position.
