About the job

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Application Engr I based in India.

As an Application Engr I, you will support the development, analysis, and optimization of building management systems (BMS) and HVAC control solutions. You will work with technologies that help buildings operate more efficiently, sustainably, and reliably. The role involves analyzing system performance, troubleshooting control loops, reviewing technical specifications, and identifying energy-saving opportunities. You will collaborate with global customers, project teams, and field technicians to ensure high-quality implementation and successful project delivery. Using building automation protocols, programming tools, and data analytics platforms, you will help transform operational data into actionable insights. This remote opportunity is ideal for an engineering professional with hands-on commissioning experience and a strong interest in building automation, energy efficiency, and technical problem-solving.

Accountabilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of HVAC systems, including central plants, air handling units (AHUs), and unitary control systems, to support effective system analysis and optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve building energy efficiency and recommend practical energy-saving measures.
  • Review functional specifications and sequences of operation to understand system behavior and verify alignment with project requirements.
  • Apply direct digital control (DDC) programming knowledge to support system configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC control loops, sensors, and related system components to identify faults and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct functionality checks against technical specifications and review actual site operating data to detect anomalies and performance issues.
  • Analyze system data and present findings through charts, reports, and other clear visual formats.
  • Participate in meetings and teleconferences with global customers, providing technical updates and supporting effective communication.
  • Provide technical guidance to project team members and support field technicians in resolving implementation and commissioning challenges.
  • Prepare monthly project and performance reports, ensuring accurate documentation and clear communication of progress.
  • Apply awareness of building standards and sustainability frameworks, including LEED and Green Mark, along with relevant building automation protocols.
  • Follow established quality assurance procedures, promote common engineering best practices, and ensure project commitments and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while supporting timely delivery, minimizing deviations, and proactively preventing technical issues.
  • Contribute to smooth project execution through effective collaboration, safety compliance, and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Between 2 and 5 years of professional experience in a project-based engineering environment, with practical exposure to building management system commissioning and onsite operations.
  • Niagara certification and hands-on experience working with the Niagara platform.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation, DDC programming, and the commissioning of control systems.
  • Familiarity with building automation and integration protocols, including BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus, OPC, and related communication standards.
  • Understanding of networking, database technologies, system integration, software programming or coding, and emerging industry trends.
  • Ability to review technical specifications, interpret system operating data, troubleshoot control loops, and identify performance improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience preparing technical reports and presenting data in chart format.
  • Familiarity with Tableau Desktop for data visualization; experience with SkySpark Analytics and Niagara programming is an added advantage.
  • Awareness of building sustainability standards and energy-efficiency practices, including LEED and Green Mark.
  • Previous experience in construction or site-based environments, with a demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Exposure to international projects and collaboration with global customers is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive, customer-focused mindset, willingness to learn, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.

Benefits

  • Remote work arrangement: Flexibility to work remotely while collaborating with project teams and international customers.
  • Professional development: Opportunities to expand technical expertise in HVAC controls, building automation, commissioning, and energy optimization.
  • Technical learning: Exposure to Niagara, BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus, data analytics, and integrated building management technologies.
  • International collaboration: Opportunities to work with global customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Career advancement: Scope to strengthen project management, technical problem-solving, customer engagement, and engineering delivery skills.
  • Meaningful impact: Contribute to more energy-efficient, sustainable, reliable, and high-performing buildings.
  • Salary and compensation: Specific salary details have not been provided in the available job description and should be confirmed during the recruitment process.
