3D Artist (5-month contract)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a 3D Artist (5-month contract) based in Canada.

Join a remote-first game development environment and help bring an ambitious third-person sci-fi action game to life. As a 3D Environment Artist, you will create high-quality assets that contribute to a distinctive and cohesive game universe. Working closely with art direction, design, animation, and technical art teams, you will transform concepts into polished, production-ready in-game content. Your work will span hard-surface props, environmental structures, and modular assets, with a strong focus on visual quality and real-time performance. This is a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of significant asset responsibilities while collaborating with an experienced and creative team. The role offers flexible remote work arrangements for candidates who are legally eligible to work and currently reside in Canada.

Accountabilities

You will contribute to the visual development of a sci-fi game by producing optimized environment assets and ensuring they meet the project's artistic and technical standards. Your responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with the Project Art Director and Team Leads to execute the visual direction of a third-person sci-fi action game within a technically demanding Unreal Engine pipeline.

•

Creating high-quality hard-surface assets, including props and environmental set pieces.

•

Producing clean, efficient 3D models and materials optimized for real-time rendering and gameplay requirements.

•

Applying established modeling, UV mapping, baking, and physically based rendering (PBR) texturing workflows.

•

Iterating quickly on concepts, prototypes, and final assets in collaboration with design, animation, and technical art teams.

•

Translating artistic direction and concept art into cohesive, polished, production-ready game assets.

•

Maintaining high-quality standards and contributing to the overall visual excellence of the game.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced 3D environment artist with strong technical foundations, an eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced game production environment. The following qualifications are expected:

4+ years of professional industry experience.

•

Demonstrated ability to create high-quality 3D environment art assets for video games.

•

Strong understanding of 3D modeling, UV mapping, baking, and PBR texturing workflows.

•

Experience creating modular environment assets and implementing them within a game engine.

•

Proficiency with Substance tools, particularly Substance Painter and/or Substance Designer.

•

Experience collaborating with Art Directors and multidisciplinary development teams.

•

Ability to work proactively, manage asset responsibilities independently, and respond effectively to feedback.

Additional assets

•

Sculpting skills, particularly for natural forms, organic elements, and foliage.

•

Experience with Unreal Engine's Procedural Content Generation (PCG) system.

•

Passion for science fiction and action games.

•

Interest in worldbuilding, cinematics, or visual storytelling.

Benefits
