About the job

Experience level: not applicable.

We are seeking a frontend engineer to build and maintain high-scale web applications for a payments platform. You will extend payment capabilities, add payment methods, and improve the reliability of mission-critical web applications using React and TypeScript.

Enterprise experience strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain React micro-frontend solutions and web applications for a payments platform.
  • Add new payment methods to existing platform capabilities.
  • Deliver features, bug fixes, and reliability improvements.
  • Deliver production-ready changes through automated CI/CD pipelines with strong test coverage.
  • Write comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to support application reliability.

Must-Have Skills

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience at a mid-to-senior level, with demonstrated ownership of production services in a distributed systems environment.
  • TypeScript and React, including functional components, hooks, context, and custom hooks.
  • Webpack bundling and code splitting, with component styling using SCSS/CSS Modules and Styled Components.
  • Experience building and maintaining micro-frontends using Webpack Module Federation or similar platform-integrated remote module architectures.
  • Strong working knowledge of GraphQL queries and mutations, Apollo Client caching and reactive variables, and type-safe hooks generated with GraphQL Code Generator or similar tooling.
  • Solid React Router experience for client-side navigation, plus experience building and validating complex forms.
  • Production engineering experience with frontend telemetry, error logging, feature flags, gradual rollouts, and debugging user-facing production issues.
  • Experience building accessible and internationalized interfaces using shared design systems, reusable component libraries, and localization workflows.
  • Unit and integration testing with Jest and React Testing Library; end-to-end testing with TestCafe, Cypress, or Playwright; and familiarity with automated accessibility testing tools.
  • CI/CD experience with GitLab CI or equivalent, plus ESLint, Prettier, and collaborative Git workflows including branching, code reviews, and merge requests.
  • Responsible use of modern coding assistants for code comprehension, implementation, refactoring, and test creation while retaining ownership of quality, security, and correctness.
  • Strong working knowledge of backend and distributed systems, including asynchronous messaging and multi-datastore consistency. End-to-end ownership of backend systems is not required, but limited understanding of these concepts is insufficient.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Prior billing or payments domain experience.
  • Experience with high-scale, mission-critical frontend systems where user experience, state-management correctness, accessibility, and performance are essential.
  • Clear reasoning about client-side architecture, including micro-frontends, module federation, and caching strategies.
  • Strong collaboration with backend partners on API contracts.

Required Tools & Platforms

  • TypeScript, React, and React Router.
  • Webpack, with Module Federation or a similar remote-module architecture.
  • SCSS/CSS Modules and Styled Components.
  • GraphQL, Apollo Client, and GraphQL Code Generator or similar tooling.
  • Jest, React Testing Library, and TestCafe, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • GitLab CI or equivalent, Git, ESLint, and Prettier.
  • Shared design systems, localization workflows, and automated accessibility testing tools.

Location, Time & Engagement

  • Candidates must be based in an eligible APAC location.
  • India Standard Time (IST) coverage is required.
  • Remote contract engagement for 40 hours per week.
  • Start as soon as possible; expected engagement through March 31, 2027.
  • Two openings are available.
  • This is not currently a contract-to-hire opportunity.
